From a young age, Wes fell in love with fabrication. His tinkering started with building gates and panels for his family farm. But it wasn't until he got his hands on a old red tombstone welder that he really began to explore his skills. Those early years welds weren't pretty folks, filled with welds that looked like chewed bubble gum or like an alligators chewed on the edge. It wasn't until he was given the opportunity in high school to work in a local fabrication shop sweeping the floors where he became the kid in the candy shop. With wide eyes looking at all the equipment he had never seen before, he longed to learn as much as he could about this craft. It wasn't long until he was bumped up to an apprentice position. And from there became the foreman of the shop.
Then along came the brisket...juicy and delicious. After enjoying many a "meat and 3" , Wes was determined to learn out how to cook it for himself. And, decided he was going to build his own rig to do so. After a few different smoker configurations, Wes landed on the Texas offset style that gave him the temperature and smoke control he wanted. It was used by backyard enthusiets and professionals to achieve crowd pleasing, delicious BBQ and he knew that he could bring a quality smoker to others. At that moment Caveman Cooker was born.
